These are the Lucas C40 dynamos which have been remanufactured in the UK
They are an outright not exchange purchase and no surcharge is levied

These C40 Lucas units were fitted to many British vehicles in the 1960 & 70s. They can also be fitted in place of the earlier C39 dynamo. Unipart number GXE3101. Dynamos suit both negative and positive earth vehicles - dynamo polarization instructions here

C40L units are the same units in a slightly longer case (L standing for long) thus allowing more windings and a greater output. They were factory fitted to a few vehicles as below, but were often offered as an alternative (more expensive) version by dealers or for (usually cold climate) export markets. They are a common upgrade today for owners seeking a little more output from the charging system. The Lucas part number is LRD102. The Unipart number is GEU1102
